Good-Bye: Mr.Robert Silva

Time passing heals all wounds This is what they say As time goes on things get better But emotions never sway You leaned on me to help you through Hours we would spend Our time together enjoyed by both Never thought that it would end The day has come our lives have changed It is time to part our ways New places to work for both of us Lost for awhile like strays Hold on tight to what we have The friendship that we started We’ll see each other some time soon Now that we’ve departed I’ll miss you most when I’m alone Thinking that you cared For I shall treasure all the time And the memories that we shared Good-bye my friend so long for now See in my dreams Once our new lives takes their course Tears will fall in streams

The Animal School

Once upon a time the animals decided they must do something heroic to meet the problems of a “new world” so they organized a school. They had adopted an activity curriculum consisting of running, climbing, swimming and flying. To make it easier to administer the curriculum, all the animals took all the subjects. The duck was excellent in swimming. In fact, better than his instructor. But he made only passing grades in flying and was very poor in running. Since he was slow in running, he had to stay after school and also drop swimming in order to practice running. This was kept up until his webbed feet were badly worn and he was only average in swimming. But average was acceptable in school so nobody worried about that, except the duck. The rabbit started at the top of the class in running but had a nervous breakdown because of so much makeup work in swimming. The squirrel was excellent in climbing until he developed frustration in the flying class where his teacher made him start from ...

Ihavandhoo residents close down Island Office

2007-03-29 Some residents of Haa Alifu atoll Ihavandhoo, after complaining that the ADB funded power house project was being delayed, have stormed the Island Office and forcefully shut it down, Wednesday(28/03/2007). One of the residents who were leading the charge to close down the Office told Haveeru that they had decided to shut down the Office because the ADB funded project to provide electricity to the island had not been finished by the scheduled date. Previously, around fifty residents had met with the Island Chief, Adnan Abdulla, on the 1st of the month to discuss the delays and had even called up the Haa Alifu Atoll Chief also. Some of the residents said that the Atoll Chief had promised that service would be available by the 15th of the month. “When we talked to the Island Chief and Atoll Chief they assured us that electricity would be provided by the 15th of the month,” said one of the residents. “We told the Atoll Chief that if electricity was not provided by the date he se...
